Multifunctional poly(vinylidene fluoride) and styrene butadiene rubber blend magneto-responsive nanocomposites based on hybrid graphene oxide and Fe3O4: synthesis, preparation and characterization

Two materials were used, like graphene oxide nanosheets (GOn) and ferromagnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4), to attenuate the electromagnetic (EM) properties in blend hybrid nanocomposites based on styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) as matrix. The rationale behind using either a ferroelectric or nanofillers Fe3O4 combination with intrinsically conducting (graphene oxide) at different weight ratios (3.75:1.25; 2.5:2.5 1.25:3.75), is induce both electrical magnetic dipoles nanocomposite system characterization determine effect of hybridization improving structural, mechanical, dielectric/electrical, thermal polymer (PVDF-SBR) for interference (EMI) shielding application. Due synergy between nanofillers, it was found that Young’s modulus containing 5 wt% nanofiller significantly improved (87%), while strain yield remained constant due low particle content rubbery SBR copolymer. In addition, degradation temperature matrix shifted from 464 472 °C addition GOn:Fe3O4. Finally, reinforcement also had positive an improvement exceeds 30%. By careful selection synthetic techniques understanding/exploiting unique physics polymeric such materials, novel functional polymer-inorganic can be designed fabricated new interests magneto applications superparamagnetism, wave absorption, shielding. This study opens avenues design flexible lightweight by nanoparticles.
